“Get on with it” ride to the Council

On Tuesday 21 April, Wellington’s cyclists will be riding from Wellington Railway Station to Civic Square to encourage the Council to “Get on With It” and build the cycle infrastructure needed to establish a cycling transport system in Wellington.

Although there have been some wins (the Ara Tawa shared path, the Leonie Gill pathway through Kilbirnie, more people in Council working on cycling projects), important projects such as the Island Bay to CBD cycleway and the Ngauranga to Thorndon route seem to be stuck in “paralysis by analysis”, and Wellington is in danger of missing out on generous government funding from the Urban Cycleways Programme.

The “Get on With It” ride is a chance to put pressure on Council to put their promises into action. Join us 12:10pm Tuesday 21 April in front of Wellington Railway Station to ride down Featherston Street to Civic Square.
