The first Wellington Ciclovia event was an overwhelming success. Helped by the best weather so far this Wellington summer, over 2,500 people took advantage of being able to enjoy the Miramar Peninsula without cars or motorbikes around. Apart from a large number of cyclist, there were also skate boarders, lots of walkers, and people on mobile scooters. It was a real family event with parents letting kids have a go at cycling or exploring the coast line. One of the larger groups of participants was a 100 strong Frocks on Bikes brigade, which started its ride from Freyberg Pool and ending up at Scorching Bay for a picnic.
