Ciclovia is here! 16th Feb 1pm – 5pm

Ciclovía is a phenomenon taking the world by storm. It’s a simple concept – close a road to cars and open it to people. Free of traffic, Ciclovía allows people to experience their city in a whole new and exciting way.

From its roots in Colombia, to downtown Los Angeles, to Melbourne, to Waiheke Island, Ciclovía has now made it to Wellington!

On Sunday 16 February from 1pm – 5pm, Miramar Peninsula, from Shelly Bay to Scorching Bay, will be open for walkers, cyclists, and people on rollerblades, push scooters and in wheelchairs. It will be an opportunity to enjoy this lovely part of the Great Harbour Way without having to worry about traffic.  A perfect occasion for families, people of all ages and a picnic; or a coffee at the Chocolate Fish or Scorch-o-Rama cafes on the route.

Join Frocks on Bikes as they ride to the event from Freyberg Beach at 12noon. Wear your best date outfit and bring along your sweetheart (whether it’s a partner, friend, flatmate, brother, sister, mother, son, daughter, or even your pet!).

Come and roam free on this beautiful part of our coastline. There’ll be rock pooling activities, historical site tours and a treasure hunt for the kids.
