Hi from Tokyo! Had 6 hot days’ riding and survived a typhoon and many cultural misunderstandings. Off to Harajuku to check out the cosplay girls and rockabilly boys.
Apparently in some parts of Japan it’s illegal to drop the kids off by car. Now there’s a law I could support. But here’s a disturbing trend: helmet compulsion on kids WALKING to school. You know, just in case.
Walked our legs off yesterday, and, confess, did a little shopping. And snapped a few pics of Tokyo fixies. Dead cool. Not a helmet in sight in town, but did see roadies in the countryside hatted up.
Despite the crowds everyone is v civil to each other.
We could learn a lot.
